How to configure the price strikethrough in the booking engine?

The booking engine incorporates the functionality to display strikethrough prices in the customer interface. This configuration is independent of the promotions section and allows to show the final price discounted against a fixed or variable value.

In order to display the crossed-out prices in the frontend, the following steps must be followed:

1) Activate the price strikethrough, go to Settings > Behavior, select the checkbox crossed out prices (promos).

2) Configure the rack rate field in each inventory line by accessing Inventory>Define Inventory>Inventory Table and select the edit pencil or via Inventory>Define Inventory>Edit Inventory by excel.

The rack rate may be configured as constant or shared:

If constant is chosen, a fixed value may be set on the basis of which the crossed-out price will be calculated.

If a shared option is chosen, an inventory line should be determined and its final price should be used as a reference.

When setting up inventory lines that share a rate relationship, but with different conditions, it will be interesting to set the shared rack rate to show the savings of one versus the other.

Example

  • The line std_2a_SA_nr takes the same price as std_2a_SA_cg minus 10%. In the inventory lines a ratio is established by formula: std_2a_SA_nr = std_2a_SA_SA_cg - 10%.

  • The price of free cancellation is 100 (the system will automatically calculate the non-refundable rate with price 90).

By configuring the rack rate as indicated in the previous instructions, we can set the rack rate of std_2a_SA_nr to std_2a_SA_cg, obtaining the following result:

The interesting thing about this configuration is that the rack price will change dynamically reflecting the rate of the std_2a_SA_cg line, so that the crossed-out price can be adjusted with maximum flexibility.
