Below we summarize the steps to be carried out for the integration with Google Analytics 4:
As we informed you on March 28, on July 1, 2023 Google will discontinue the current version of Google Analytics (Universal Analytics - UA), which means it will stop collecting data.
This is a radical paradigm shift in the way we track visits and bookings, which requires you to set up a new Google Analytics account (GA4). We recommend that if there is no one in your organization who knows Google Analytics in depth, you hire a specialized agency to advise you, as Google has increased the sophistication and complexity of the tool.
Instructions for setting up GA4
In this document you will find the basic instructions to configure a new GA4 account, the three container variables to be imported: JSON without consent mode, JSON with Consent Mode Basic y JSON with Consent Mode Advanced (for the correct execution of the tags, the user's consent preferences must have been collected. For this it is highly recommended to use a cookie banner management tool and configure the execution of tags accordingly) to generate the GTM (Google Tag manager) and for your information, the list of variables that the new version of the engine will send to the dataLayer for your GTM to collect.
Who will perform this configuration?
Witbooking is not responsible for the configuration of your GA4 account, nor does it provide support for this tool, which is completely unrelated to the engine. Witbooking has never performed this configuration in new engine registrations, simply the establishment indicated in the engine the Google Analytics account to allow access to the data (UA-XXXXX), but the configuration was always on behalf of the establishment.
This migration must be performed by the establishment or, failing that, by the marketing agency with which it usually collaborates. Witbooking will be able to put the establishment in contact with marketing agencies that know the Witbooking engine, so that they can perform the GA4 configuration.
This contracting will be totally independent and external to Witbooking.
Web data
It is important to remember that this GTM, which will be configured, will only collect GA4 data from your engine. The navigation data of your website and if you have pixels on Facebook or Google, your analytics agency will have to reconfigure them separately in this new GA4 account.
